Volos City Museum

Volos City museum aims to become a place where the life stories of the people of the city will be exposed along with the material evidence of their activity. The museum is located at 17 Feron Street in the district of Palia.

It is housed in the former Papadou tobacco warehouse, which was built around 1920 and was refurbished in 2014. Its first major exhibition, entitled "Volos - Nea Ionia: So Far but Nearby", opens on December 22, 2014

Is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of its founding. of the Refugee Settlement in Nea Ionia, as well as the impact of the mass deployment of Asia Minor refugees in Volos city..

At the same time, the museum hosts periodical exhibitions. Additionaly, the Volos City Museum also has venues for events and educational activities. Part of the castle survives in its backyard, which was restored by the 7th Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities.
