Monastery of Flamouri

The Monastery of the Transfiguration in Flamouri is located in north Pelion, 5km northwest of Kerasia. It is built in a green landscape dominated by forests of beech, chestnut and pine trees. The monastery was founded in the 16th century and still operates to this day. It follows the standards of the monastic community of Mount Athos prohibiting entry to women.
