The «Mountain Escapes» is the first affiliated center in Greece! It trains and certifies through the international organization Canyoning ICOPRO. The Mountains Escapes” education centre is located in Tsagarada Pelion and only 10 minutes from educational canyons. The faculty is specifically designed for safer and more efficient education.
Our love and passion for the outdoors adventure led us to seeking out the best natural places in Greece. We have discovered the most beautiful canyons hidden into the best rivers and a lot of interesting trails for hiking. Some canyons are more difficult and some others are more accessible it depends by level you’ll choose. Canyoning in Pelion
During your stay in Pelion, you can go down some of the canyons in Pelion and you will understand that they stand out from the rest of the canyons in three points. They stand out due to their vegetation, the beautiful beaches to which each of them flows into the sea and, of course, due to the Centaurs’ legend which are hidden in them. The combination of the canyoning as well as the swimming in the sea is rare!
The most admirable routes for canyoning are 6 and particularly at Tsagarada, Xourihti,Zagora and Lambinou. The canyons are those in Mega Galanorema,Mylopotamos, Fakistra, Damouhari, Limniona and Lambimou. All the canyons end up in beautiful beaches! The Centaurs’ canyons in combination with the geomythology of the region consist a challenge! The marvelous view of the Aegean during the descent in the canyons, the beautiful nature and the enchanting beaches will charm and satisfy you. The beautiful beaches at the eastern Pelion used to be the destination of the mythical Centaurs where they arrived after crossing these canyons!
Safety is our concern
Mountain Escapes” Instructors are selected for their maturity, judgment, teaching experience and outdoor skills. A genuine interest in people and love for teaching are as important as an extensive canyoning resume. During all your activities, the security guards will be very watchful to avoid any unwanted proceedings. Despite all the fun and games, this sport requires the guidance of an expert. Our instructors are experienced canyoneers and believe that the practice of safe canyoning necessitates proper gear, continual vigilance and an excellent knowledge of these remarkable places.
What is it.
It consists of descending the lowest point of a water drainage, or “thalweg”, which includes a wide range of features: creeks, streams, rivers, gorges (more or less narrow and deep), with or without water, fast moving or not, presence of waterfalls, natural water pools, reaches and sub vertical parts. Canyoning is based on moving down the canyon and passing natural obstacles.
Movement through a canyon can include activities such as walking, swimming, jumping, sliding, down-climbing, rappelling/abseiling and other rope progression techniques. Canyoning requires specific equipment and techniques that must be adapted to the natural environment
